A Warm Evening

... Seriously though, I've been wanting to practice some serious shading and backgrounds for a while now, and sense I've been meaning to update the app art for my 's team, I figured it was about time to do so. So, here's one half of team BlazingAura, Susan the Vulpix. I'll go over her bio once I get her actual ref up.

Mostly, a lot of this was experiamental stuff. Notably, I used 's cell shading tutorial for this. ([link]) This is probably the most 'indepth' shading I've done so far that isn't just GUASSIAN BLUR ALL THE THINGS!!!!111!!!1!!1!one /shot

I think it came out okay, though I don't like how sharp the contrast is for the really darker parts of the shading, and there are some areas where it looks rather derp. ( Like the tail, though that was my own fault. Even with the ideal area of where the light is coming from in mind, I still wasn't sure how to shade that... ) If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve on that, it would be greatly appricated.

I drew the background after I had got her fully drawn and shaded. As I've said many times in the past, backgrounds are by far my biggest weakness when it comes to drawing. I did try to give it a bit more texture than usual, and tried to blend it as best I could but... Yeah, I still have a long way to go on these...

Also, should probably mention this sense I've had people bring this up in the past... Yes, that Vulpix IS suppose to have one tail. It's part of her character.
